Nousaku has a history of gold leafing and fine tin making spanning over 400 years. For many centuries their delicate products were mainly used as Buddhist altar articles, tea paraphernalia, and flower vases.

Handed down and rooted in Takaoka, NOUSAKU aims to preserve and innovate the rich heritage of their Japanese ancestors. More recently, they have been able to develop and apply their craft and technology to modern designer interior decor and tableware collaborating with a number of artists and designers.

Tin is a popular alloy in japan for drinking vessels as it is believed that water served in tin vessels does not spoil and that tin removes excess bitterness, producing a better taste. Tin also has low allergic reactivity and high antibacterial qualities. For these unique qualities, tin has traditionally been used for sake and teaware in Japan.
